Day 6 Stuart and Ricky's talk Van Tol

I enjoyed having Stuart and Ricky coming in today and speaking with us. I enjoyed hearing Ricky's story, but I was also surprised he shared it with us because he doesn't know us very well. I'm glad he opened up right away. One thing that surprised me was that he started drinking at age 14 and dropped out of school. Once I found out that he was an alcoholic I understood a little more, but it all made sense at the end of his story. It must of been really hard being an alcoholic, having two divorces, getting four toes cut off, losing jobs, and being homeless. I'm glad his daughter helped him realize he needed to go somewhere and get help, because he needed it. The one thing that was probably the hardest was not seeing his family or his grandchildren. I wonder if that was something he thought about a lot and possibly helped him stop so that he could see his family. If I was in that position, I would personally do anything to see my family even if it was very hard. I'd do my best at least. So I'm glad Ricky has been sober for thirty days now and he has a better life because of it.
